Magazine Advert draft 2 and feedback(Ellie Taylor)

Magazine Advert Draft 2
What to improve:
Consider fonts a little more
consider placement
Make the house smaller and put at the bottom of the magazine advert

What went well:
The use of the image
Having the main characters on the the advert
The dolls house linking towards the video and digipak

Feedback from target audience

  • The advert does not link well with the video
  • Photoshop is a little poor showing very little Photoshop skills. To improve maybe change the location and make it look more edited to resemble a magazine advert.
  • Maybe add the younger character from the video to show the link
  • Does not show the narrative that appears in the video
  • Have brighter colours and make it stand out more
  • Make sure that the genre is clear

With this feedback, we are now going to consider adding the younger versions of the band members to show the link between video and the magazine advert. By changing the location it may be clearer to the audience. from the feedback we are going to make sure that the writing stands out and portrays the genre to the audience. We will change the font and colours as from the feedback we noticed that the genre was not as clear as we would like.

Magazine Advert Draft 1 and Feedback(Jennifer Skeel)

Magazine Advert Draft 1 and Feedback

Positive feedback
  • Good choice of background image
  • Well done for including logo and iTunes logo
Improvements
  • Pull Misterwives down
  • Consider font and colour at the bottom of the advert
  • Add reviews
  • Maybe consider adding a dolls house to it?
Feedback from target audience
  • The advert looks empty around the top, try to add in some ratings or reviews
  • The happy portrayal of the artists is good and the background shows the pop genre
  • Choice of location for main background picture is good
  • White font looks basic and unattractive
  • Name of the group and album could be a different font to help stand out more on the advert

We will take the feedback we have been given to alter our magazine advert so that it suits are artist image and attracts our target audience. We will do this by changing our colour of font and pulling Misterwives down so that we are portrayed correctly. We will also add an image of the doll's house at the bottom so that there is a link to our music video. This will make sure the audience have a better understanding of how our chosen song and artists link together. Plus, by responding to our audience feedback and changing the colour and style of font and adding more reviews we will be able to attract more of our target audience.

Digipak Draft 1 and feedback (Ellie Taylor)

Digipak

To improve:
Too much leaf
Take leaves away from track listing
Add dolls house?
Maintain a house style- keep the same font on both magazine advert and digipak

What went well:
The location for the shots
The link between the music video and the magazine advert
The colour for the front cover titles

Audience feedback:
Make sure that the colours blend well
Change the font and colour
Have a change in locations
There is too much leaf and nature
Maybe add some rollerskating or shed

From the audience we are going to consider changing the font and colour of the track list and the front cover. Also having a wider range of locations. From this feedback, we are going to consider using a wider variety of locations and adding the younger children in a couple sections to make sure that the digipak links with the music video and the magazine advert. We will also add a dolls house and change the font to match the magazine advert.

The narrative is clear as the viewer is able to follow the younger selves to adults
A variety of camera angles and movements
Good mixture of performance and narrative

Music Video Rough cut 2 and feedback(Ellie Taylor)

What works well
Nice variety of shots
Good locations

What could be improved
Lip syncing is slightly out around 1.55 and out again around 3.21
End with the friendship bracelets again
I still want more links to the dolls house to make the narrative clearer - playing with dolls at the start etc
Do not end with your logo - end with a shot that would be memorable - friendship bracelets
Some shots where you are giggling look like its just you guys chilling rather than a music video - something to consider.

Audience Feedback:

From the feedback we are going to make sure that the lip syncing is accurate and that we film more footage of the bracelets so that the audience can understand the link between the younger versions of the band members. We will also add more of the studio singing because there are some scenes in which we are not happy with and look immature as the characters laughing.

Music video Rough Cut 1 and feedback(Jennifer Skeel)

Music video Rough Cut 1

What works well
  • Love the idea of the transition between childhood and adulthood
  • Good lip syncing
  • Lovely editing with the different positions in front of the trees
  • Nice amount of content
  • I like how goofy it is!
Even better if
  • Add more transitions between childhood and adulthood, links to the bracelets
  • Add more of finding the doll’s house at the start and the doll’s house throughout the video
  • I do not understand why you have a handheld mic in a shed – I think the lip syncing from the shed to be filmed in the recording studio and we need the children lip syncing more as well!
  • Link more adult shots to child shots
  • Why has one section been recorded and the rest isn’t?
  • This needs a little cleaning up and make the narrative a little clearer
Feedback from target audience
  • Some parts of the lip syncing are off and need to be adjusted
  • The narrative makes sense but more scenes could be added to make it clearer
  • The use of different locations makes the video more interesting to watch
  • The use of different ages makes the meaning of the music video clearer.
  • One section has been recorded and this is ineffective and does not make sense.
  • The story line shows the friendship between the girls.
  • This music video can be considered as a pop music video because of the different colours and locations.
With this feedback, we can now change and adapt our music video so that we can make it the best it can be. We will be able to make our music video have a better narrative by including more of the doll’s house and more links between adult and child to emphasise that the basic meaning of the video is about friendship. By following the feedback, we have been given we can add and change key aspects of our music video so that it is more appealing to our target audience specifically editing the video so that the lip syncing is in the correct place, adding more key scenes to improve our narrative  and deleting the recorded section of our music video.

Final Location Scouting for all 3 products(Gabrielle Chambers)

We will be looking into possible locations that we will be able to use for all of our three different products. We will also be looking into why these locations will be effective and how they all link together.

Music Video

In our music video, we will be using multiple locations and will then be using different locations inside that locations. For example, we filmed in Hylands park and then we filmed in the different areas of Hylands; The woodlands, The house, The park and more. This widened our locations which allowed our music video to look more realistic, we know this because during our research and planning when we looked at what music videos contained we found out they used a lot of locations. Therefore we decided it would be good if we followed this aspect.

Our main location was Rollerskating. We decided to use the rollerskating rink because it was a fun location and this allowed us to show our audience their friendship through these scenes which is one of the ways we wanted our narrative to be shown. Also with this location, we had to phone up Sk8aters to hire out the roller rink before it opened. This was due to their policy as we would not be able to film whilst there were other people using the facility. This worked out well as we wouldn't be in anyone way.

We also went outside the Sk8aters and went out to Maldon promenade and the golf club. This also allowed us to add aspects of friendships with the park and the memories of the golf club.

We also used a lot of park and woodland settings as when we were doing some research into our genre we noticed that our song had some indie pop aspects to it. Therefore when we researched into this genre we noticed that a lot of indie pop music videos involve these settings so, therefore, we decided to use this to help show this genre.

We also used Jenny's bedroom for the dolls house scene and we use this room as a reference to their childhood with the final scenes where the connections are made. This also provided the homely nature that the music video was looking for.

Another location we used was the recording studio and we were not planning on using this location as all of our performances aspects where going to be in Ellie's shed but during our first lot of feedback it was pointed out that the recording studio would allow a professional aspect to be added to our music video.

Digipack

With the digipack we didn't use as many locations as the music video, however, we did use more locations than on the magazine advert. This was due to the fact that we needed 6 images on the digipack to fill up all the sides.

For the locations we used;
  • Woodlands - Broomfield
  • Woodlands - Chelmsford
  • Jenny's Bedroom
Here are the photos from the digipack showing the locations;

Magazine Advert
With the magazine advert, we only used one main location and this was the woodlands as we only used 2 photos one from the woodlands and one was of the dolls house in Jenny's bedroom although after we have edited this you cannot really see the locations so, therefore, we didn't really use this.

Final Video (All Members)

Here is our final music video;
