Final props information for all 3 products(Ellie Taylor)

Final Props

Final props for the music video: In the music video we will include the microphone for the performance aspect of the video, the bracelets on each of the characters in the video for the narrative aspect and so that the audience can identify who the older teens are with the younger versions of them. We are also using a dolls house to show the growth of a friendship that occurred at a young age and grew over the years; the prop is used at the end of the video to show the teenagers looking back on the memories and how they remained friends.

Final props for digipak: The props for the digipak are limited as we are planning to use the characters both young and old to explain the genre. The bracelets used in the music video will be used in both the digipak and the magazine to make sure that the audience sees the link. We will be using the backgrounds from the music video such as the park and rollerskating as props to convey the genre. We are also using the dolls house to help the audience in identifying the link between the digipak, the magazine advert and the music video.

Final props for magazine advert: As the magazine and digipak will be similar it means that there would be very little props used for it. However, we are going to use a dolls house to show the relation between the music video, digipak and the magazine advert.

How will this help us when making a music video?: This will help us because it has given us ideas in what we need to include in all the products that we are making.

Final costumes for all 3 products(Jennifer Skeel)

Final costumes for all 3 products

Music video

The costumes we used in our music video varied because we were trying to convey the pop music genre. So we wore multiple casual outfits so that we could follow the conventions of our chosen genre but also so that the understanding of our music video would be clearer. Casual clothing ensures that the narrative is clear because it is all about a simple subject being friendship, not an extreme topic that would involve specific clothing types. The choice of clothing we chose to use allows our video to portray clearer and more interesting music video which will allow us to attract our target audience.

Magazine Advert

We chose to have the main image of our magazine advert be us because we are the main artists and this helps us to be noticed and become known by our target audience. Plus, the chosen image has a connection to the music video since we are included in the video and we are presented in an autumn base environment. This can then also be seen in our music video too and this makes the connection that we are the artists and links to the indie pop music genre because we have followed the conventions of it by the choice of location we have used.

Digipak

In our digipak, we have used two specific pictures that have links to our music video and the meaning of it. Both pictures seen below emphasise the meaning of friendship. We have used the picture of the older girls because we are the main artists in the music video and it links to our narrative and the conventions of a pop music genre by the choice of location we have decided to use being nature based. In addition, we have then used the second picture of the younger girls because of the links to our music video since they are in and shows how they are the younger version of us and this helps us to portray the definition of friendship. We also included this picture because it involves the dollhouse and this then not only links to our music video because it is the main element in it but it has connections with the song we chose being 'Our Own House' and this ensures that our target audience has a better understanding of our music video.

Shotlist for magazine(Gabrielle Chambers)

We plan on taking multiple photos whilst were filming to help us when we come to make our magazine advert look effective and realistic.

We all created our own versions of how we wanted our magazine advert to look and this has allowed us to come up with the idea we want for our magazine advert.

Here are some of the photos we will be evolving in our magazine advert;

We will then be placing the photo of the dolls house behind the singers to add the reference to our music video. Also, we will be adding our logo, reviews and other aspects that we found are commonly used in magazine adverts. We decided to use these aspects to allow our magazine advert to be more realistic.

Shotlist for digipak(Ellie Taylor)

Shotlist for Digipak

1
Shot of the kids from behind the tree
2
Shots of the adults/teenagers behind the tree
3
Background shot of woods area
4
Shot of roller skating or some sort of scene from roller skating

The shortlist is short because we want to use all the ideas from the group and incorporate it into the digipak. When making the digipak we are aiming to use the idea of the all the characters being in the photo however if it doesn’t appeal to the audience we want to make sure that we have other ideas in which we can choose as well. We are going to use a 6-panel digipak. the left side of the digipak we will include the list of songs, the right side will be the artist in a background from the video. And the top three sections will be from backgrounds in the music video.

How will this help us when making a music video?:
This will help us as when we will be making the video we can take pictures from each location so that we have a variety to choose from and which best matches the genre of the music. However, as we create the digipak we might consider adding the dolls house.

Equipment information(Jennifer Skeel)

Equipment information

When filming our music video, we will be using an iPhone and a tripod. Clear footage will ensure that our music video has a clear narrative and is of good quality. Also, the tripod will make sure that the camera is still and not unsteady unlike what would happen if we were to hold it. Plus, we will use the compass app on the iPhone to make sure that the camera is level when we are filming because otherwise, our music video will look off and unprofessional.

This will help us when filming our music video because we have preparation of what we need to get so we are able to film our music video so that it is understandable and attractive to the audience, with no off-balance shots and no extreme camera movement.

Casting/audition information(Gabrielle Chambers)

Casting/Audition information

First of all, we wanted to look into our target audience, because we will need people in our target audience in our music video as this will help us target that chosen audience more easily.

Our target audience is teenagers so, therefore, we will need to audition people who are teenagers. After we have chosen our older characters who are teenagers we then auditioned characters who looked similar to us and seeing as two of that characters had younger siblings the same age we, therefore, wanted to choose them because this will help us make our target audience clearer.

These are the people we auditioned for the older characters;-          Gabrielle Chambers-          Jennifer Skeel-          Ellie Taylor-          Georgia Harman

These are the people we auditioned for the younger characters;-          Isabelle Chambers-          Isabelle Skeel-          Charley Gooch

When we first began to look into our music video we had originally planned to base the music video on friendship. So, therefore, the cast in our music video would involve a large group of people, therefore, meaning we would be auditioning a large number of people. Here are a few people we planned on auditioning.

The shot-list gives us information for when we are editing and for when we are filming as it will give us an indication as to what to film at the point of filming. The shot-list is used as a guide as it gives the location and the times of the music video; it gives the camera angles and camera movements that need to be used in the video to make sure that the video is a high grade and conveys the genre to the audience.

How this will us when making our music video?
This will help us when making the music video because it will give us an idea of what should be in the video at what stage and who should be in the video at a certain time.

Lighting notes(Jennifer Skeel)

Lighting notes

In our music video, we will use naturalistic lighting because the majority of our video will be filmed in outside locations. Plus, the timing of the filming being in autumn helps us to portray the conventions of indie pop. We will use high key lighting to make sure that the artists are visible and so that our storyline relates to indie pop. This will make our music video more interesting and have a clearer narrative because we will be using a wide range of locations and linking to the conventions of our chosen genre.

On the other hand, we will be using artificial lighting to help convey our chosen genre specifically the pop side of it because in the majority of pop music videos flashing and colourful lights are used to emphasise a lively narrative and to help the mainstream artist attract their target audience.

These notes will help us when with our filming our music video because we will have better preparation for when and where we should go, that uses these different types of lighting. Also, the use of the different kinds of lighting will help us to link our music video to the indie pop genre and will make the narrative clearer to our audience.

Ideas for a magazine advertisement(Gabrielle Chambers)

As a group we all decided that to make sure our magazine advert was created by all of us as a group, we would all individually make a magazine advert and then we will look at all of them and either choose one or create one from the three.

Here is Gabrielle's idea;
This idea involves a photograph of the tree that we used in our music video with the older characters on one side of the tree and the younger characters on the other side showing them slightly faded to show they're the younger version.

Here is Ellie's idea;

These are the ideas that Ellie has made up to how she feels we should do on our own magazine advert.

Here is Jennifer's idea;

These are Jenny's ideas for how she feels our magazine advert should look like.

After looking into our designs we have decided to involve the older characters on our magazine cover. We feel this will be most effective as they are the band members and this would make more sense to other viewers. We will combine aspects of all three designs and make sure all ideas are incorporated to make it fair in our group.

By all of us creating these drafts this will helps us decide on a magazine advert for us to use for our final product.

Ideas for digipak(Ellie Taylor)

Ideas for digipak

As a group, we decided to create a digipak each to give us enough ideas to create our own. We will take ideas from each digipak and create one that we all agree on. When creating the music video we will take a picture for each of the digipaks and the magazine and some from what we like from each design. From Ellie's designs, we will be using the idea of having the forest and some element of nature in the digipak and the three older characters for the front cover. From Jennifer's idea, we will be using the colour scheme and the balloons for the list of the songs. From Gabrielle's ideas, we will be using the dolls house and images of the children.

Gabrielle Chambers' Digipak Ideas

How will this help us when making a music video?:
This will help us as it has given us multiple ideas on what to include in our own digipak and how to lay it out when creating it.

Animatic Storyboard(Jennifer Skeel)

Animatic Storyboard

This will help us when making our own music video because we now have better preparation for filming our video by having a better idea of the different locations and camera angles we will use. Plus, we have a clearer idea of the storyline and how we will portray it.

Location scouting(Gabrielle Chambers)

To start off with we first thought of the locations we wanted to see in our music video and here are the ideas we came up with;

Originally we wanted to film the majority of our music video in Southend. We would film the Pier, Arcades, Chip Shop, Amusement park etc. This was a few ideas from our original narrative, however, in the new narrative, Southend is no longer needed for practicality reasons as if we needed more footage it is longer to drive to. Here are some photos of places we could have filmed in Southend.

We also wanted film some of our music video in a Roller-skating Rink. We looked around at local roller-skating rinks and we felt that SK8ATERS in Maldon would be best. Here are some photos;

We also thought about filming in the Promenade park which Is located next to the roller-skating rink as this would provide us with the park idea we had in our narrative.

We also thought about going to Crazy golf as then we would be able to get some shots of the older and the younger characters to show memories.

We also wanted to have a few shots in a woodland area and with this location, we struggled to find a suitable location for our needs. However, we felt that Hylands park would be a great place as we would be able to use the house as a setting as well.

All of these locations involve meanings, for example, we used Hylands House to reference the friendship is like the layer of a house. In the music video it is the development of a friendship, therefore, this is referring to the metaphor of the house.

We all liked these locations mainly because they're a little bit random and we saw this a lot of different music videos and how they had used random locations. We also used these locations because these where often places where teenagers would go to therefore we were obtaining our target audience. Also, these locations had references to the song such as the locations such as the park showed friendship and memories.

This will help us as it has allowed us to think about the importance of our locations and see whether they're accessible and we have also thought about the fact that some of our locations we will need to have permission.
