Initial ideas for music video

For our music video, we viewed five music videos. The five videos were 'Uh-huh' by Julia Michaels,  'Feel it still' by Portugal The man, 'Our own house' by Misterwives, 'I don't want it at all' by Kim Petras and the last one was by 'animal'  by Westlvnd. As a group, we decided to go with 'Our own house' because we liked the genre of the artist (indie pop) and because the music video had little narrative in which we could be more creative with the narrative and the performance because we wouldn't copy the music video. As a group, we chose pop, hip-hop as we liked the genre of music as we like the conventions of the genre and artists within it. For example, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber. We decided to go for this genre as we liked the colours used in the videos and the number of shots used in the first 1 minute as we think it is more effective than having long shots that may not entice the audience; also we were familiar with seeing pop music videos and we can identify the conventions and the artist from the music or the music video. We picked multiple songs that have both bands and single artists to make sure we had a wide variety to choose from.

What made you go with this genre?
We went with this genre because as a group we were similar to pop artists and indie bands, we have listened to various niche pop artists and prefer them to other niche genres as it gives us more variety when making the music video. We like how both the genre are different and how we can incorporate them in the ancillary products for example the colours used in indie music videos are dull and dark. 

How will this help us when making a music video?:
From our initial ideas, this will help us in the music video because it will help us in making our own music video as we will have a variety of songs to chose from.
