Target Audience Brief for the music video
Our target audience will be individuals who are male or female and aged from thirteen to early twenties and this is because our video is lively and includes artists and actors who range between these ages. Plus, since the genre, we chose for our music video is indie pop, we will want to attract a younger audience because the conventions in this genre fit with what younger audiences want from and expect in music videos.
They would be classed in the E and D demographic because the majority of our target audience will be students who have qualifications or not and this explains the choice of ages our target audience will be. We chose this demographic because the majority of young people favour pop as one of their favourite genres because they can relate more to the storyline compared to the classical music. This is because of the different conventions in pop music videos and the majority of artists who sing pop songs are mainstream artists who are very known by younger generations.
The audience theory 'The Uses and Gratifications Model' is very important because we want our target audience to enjoy our music video and find it interesting and therefore we would need the audience to spread the word of our video because they themselves have pleasure when watching it or just for something to relate to etc. So that they take the lively and happy vibe from our video and project it to others. But our music video would depend on our audience to share the video because then we would gain a larger target audience.
This will help us when making our own music video because we can include certain camera angles, editing, mise-en-scene and representations so that our music video attracts our target audience. Plus, by following the conventions of a pop video this will help us to create an effective video. By having certain aspects of our music video we can make it appealing to our target audience.
